Christmas in the Village

The 2023 Christmas in the Village event is Saturday, December 2! The Jefferson Arts Committee invites you to its 17th annual Christmas in the Village event where all events -- except a pancake breakfast and sale of Christmas trees are FREE -- on Saturday, December 2 from 10am to 4pm. Also, the Jefferson Township Recreation Department and the Economic Development Committee will be hosting the 1st annual Jefferson Winter Stroll event on Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3 from 4pm to 9pm. An exciting pre-holiday weekend awaits you! At Christmas in the Village, there will be live entertainment throughout the day at St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church at 153 Milton Road featuring the Arthur Stanlick Elementary School Chorus (10:05am), the Jefferson Township High School Madrigal Singers & Select Chorus (11:10am), the White Rock Elementary School Chorus (12:15pm), the Jefferson Township Community Chorus' Holiday Choral Classics Concert (1:20pm), the Jefferson Community Players' A Christmas Fairytale (2:25pm), and singer/songwriter Madison Taylor (3:15pm). There will also be a vendor fair, food and refreshments in the church hall. Christmas in the Village also includes The Milton United Methodist Church at 316 Dover-Milton Road where there will also be live entertainment with performances by the Jefferson Township High School Symphonic Band (10am), the Arthur Stanlick Elementary School Band (11am), the Jefferson Township Community Concert Bands' Everything You Wanted to Hear at a Holiday Concert but Were Afraid to Ask For Concert, the Jefferson Township Middle School Select Band (1:10pm), and the White Rock Elementary School Band (2:15pm). Food and refreshments served by the Youth Group and the Jefferson Arts Committee's annual Gingerbread House Wonderland will be on display in Headley Hall. The Jefferson Arts Committee's Christmas in the Village Marketplace featuring 18 arts, crafts, and merchandise vendors will be in the Jefferson Township Fire Department No. 1's firehouse at 162 Milton Road from 10am to 4pm. Besides the shopping, enjoy a choral performance by the Jefferson Girl Scouts and demonstrations by Oak Ridge Martial Arts, NJ Woodcarvers, and the Jefferson Township High School Robotics class. Food and refreshments will be offered by the Fire Company's Ladies Auxiliary. Costumed docent-led tours of the Jefferson Township Museum decorated in the theme of "Christmas in the Forest" await you hosted by the Jefferson Township Historical Society from 10am to 4pm at 315 Dover-Milton Road -- the site is the original George Chamberlain House, circa 1870. Each furnished room reflects how the original family might have lived during the 1800s. Unique shopping opportunities await you at Miss Elizabeth's Shoppe including a bake sale featuring handmade chocolate Santa lollipops, homemade jam, cookies, and organic homemade doggie treats along with handmade “Christmas Cupcake Socks”. Complimentary hot mulled cider & roasted chestnuts will be found outside by the wood stove. The Museum and Shoppe will re-open again on Sunday, December 3 from 1 to 4 pm. The above venues are all walkable within a cluster in the Village of Milton, an historic designated area in the vicinity of Dover-Milton and Milton Roads in the Milton/Oak Ridge section of Jefferson Township. Children should pick up their Jefferson Winter Stroll Passport at the Jefferson Arts Committee’s Information/50-50 raffle table in the firehouse or at the Gingerbread House Wonderland in Headley Hall in the Milton United Methodist Church. Bring it to Winter Stroll and have it stamped at each activity station visited for a special gift. Free admission to all Christmas in the Village venues and free parking at all venues where available plus free shuttle buses leaving from the parking lots at the Jefferson Township Senior Center at 54 Schoolhouse Road, the American Legion Post #423 at 28 Legion Road, and the Jefferson Township Middle School, 1000 Weldon Road from 9:30am to 4:30pm. All shuttles will drop off and return trips to your vehicle will be in front of the Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 1’s firehouse. Also participating in Christmas in the Village, The Milton First Aid Squad at 45 Milton Road invites you to their Olaf & Friends pancake breakfast (no reservations necessary - pay at the door) and stop by the American Legion Post #423 at 28 Legion Road to buy a fresh cut Christmas tree. The Jefferson Township Public Library in the municipal complex at 1031 Weldon Road will be offering drop-in crafts throughout the day. In addition, the Jefferson Community Players will perform in Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus at 7pm in the Jefferson Township Senior Center at 54 Schoolhouse Road with an encore performance on Sunday, December 3 at 2pm. Free admission and parking for both shows. When all is said and done at Christmas in the Village, drive approximately 5.8 miles (a 9-minute ride) to Camp Jefferson at 81 Weldon Road for the first annual Jefferson Winter Stroll event beginning at 4pm and running until 9pm both Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3. Ride the Jefferson Polar Express (bus shuttle service), stroll through Main Street & 34th Street, visit the winter shoppes, see thousands of lights, listen to the music, stroll through a wintery wonderland, adopt a pet, enjoy the food truck offerings, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy marshmallows by the fire, play reindeer games, and much more.
