FRANKENSTEIN IS COMING TO JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP… Reserve your seat at $12 pp or pay $15 at the door... the choice is yours! Just in time for Friday the 13th and Halloween, The Jefferson Arts Committee welcomes Raconteur Radio back to Jefferson Township as they present a stage radio drama based on Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley’s novel “Frankenstein". The event will be performed on the stage of the White Rock Elementary School, 2 Francine Place off White Rock Boulevard, Milton/Oak Ridge on Friday evening October 13 at 7:30 pm. Note: do not turn on Francine Place but turn on the next street Marci Drive to enter the White Rock School parking lot. The story is a combination of Gothic horror and science fiction about the classic “mad scientist” Dr. Victor Frankenstein who creates a monster. Although the name Frankenstein is actually that of the doctor, the name became attached to the hulking creature itself with its flat head and protruding neck bolts. It went on to become one of the best-known monsters in film history. At a castle in the Bavarian mountains, Dr. Frankenstein, a Swiss student of natural science, and his hunchbacked assistant Fritz succeed in piecing together a human body out of parts stolen from various corpses. As they prepare to give it life through the application of electricity, they are joined in the laboratory by several friends, all of whom plead in vain for Frankenstein to reconsider the experiment. Unbeknownst to the doctor, the brain that Fritz has acquired for their creation is that of a criminal. Though it initially seeks affection, the monster has volatile outbursts and is lonely and miserable and becomes capable of murder. You’ll hear how the story unfolds in this presentation. Raconteur Radio’s Alex Dawson adapted this radio play from the novel and the story is enhanced with the use of theatrical lighting, sound effects, and props. Reminiscent of the Golden Age of radio, the actors even re-enact vintage radio commercials! Reserved seats for this show are $12 per person for mail orders received and paid by October 10th. Simply mail a check or money order payable to the Jefferson Arts Committee for $12 per person with your name, address, telephone number and email address (confirmations will be sent via email) to Jefferson Arts Committee, c/o Frankenstein, PO Box 2604, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438. Admission at the door will be $15 per person (cash/check). Use your discretion about whether this story line is appropriate for your young children. Parking is free in the school parking lot.
