Native plant sale 2023

April 25, 2023| Community, Environment

By: Holly Odgers

Our seventh annual native plant sale is now open! It features more than 45 varieties of beautiful New Jersey native plants that play an important role in supporting our local ecosystem.

Online ordering will be available through 6 pm, Thursday, May 4 at  LHFplantsale.givesmart.com. Pickup for online purchases and an in-person sale for any remaining plants (only about 50 plants remain!) will take place on Saturday, May 6, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lake Hopatcong Foundation Environmental & Cultural Center, 125 Landing Road, Landing.

This year's sale includes favorites like milkweed, phlox, and butterfly weed, some lesser-known varieties such as black cohosh, boneset, and horsemint, and even a few new additions to our sale like bright yellow wingstem and charming dogtooth daisies.

Plants provided will be well-rooted, seedlings in quart containers unless otherwise noted (see picture for examples). Our native plants are supplied by Well-Sweep Herb Farm and are grown organically - without chemical pesticides or fungicides.

Native plants are critical to the health of our environment, providing habitat for pollinators, insects, and wildlife, as well as contributing to the health of our soil and water systems. They are also more adapted to local growing conditions and require less maintenance than non-native plants, making them a sustainable and cost-effective choice.

We hope you will choose to add some native plants to your yard or garden this spring!

ONLINE ORDERING is now closed for the 2023 native plant sale.
