Please join us on Thursday, May 28, at 6:30 pm for our first-ever rain barrel workshop! Put simply, rain barrels are rainwater collection systems - a form of green infrastructure that you attach to your gutter, which collects rainwater. Rain barrels help you conserve water, save money, and help prevent stormwater pollution from entering receiving waters like Lake Hopatcong!
Matt Trochim, Watershed Ambassador for Watershed Management Area 1, which includes Lake Hopatcong and the Musconetcong River, and Phoebe Galione, Source Water Protection Ambassador for Northern NJ, will lead this program. They will present on the benefits of rain barrels and provide instructions on how to build your own.
This program is free to attend, and all are welcome! A limited supply of rain barrels was offered to Lake Hopatcong Foundation members, and we are sold out! Those who purchased a barrel should be prepared to take the barrel with them the night of the workshop (barrels fit across the backseat of most sedans). Whether you bought a barrel or are coming to learn about the benefits of building your own, all will benefit from this fun and informative workshop!
