Foxglove Beardtongue (Penstemon digitalis)

Foxglove beardtongue or foxglove penstemon is a native perennial featuring clusters of bell-shaped white flowers from late spring to midsummer. Resembling foxgloves, the flowers are followed by small seed capsules that often persist into early fall. The flowers attract bees and hummingbirds.

Native Americans historically used the plant and its roots for a number of medicinal purposes including colds, coughs, tuberculosis, snakebites, and toothaches; however, its effectiveness is not well supported by modern science and it should not be used medicinally without guidance.
