Garden Phlox (Phlox paniculata)

Garden phlox (also know as summer phlox or fall phlox) has deep green foliage topped by conical lavender-pink flower clusters during summer and fall. The fragrant flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

While other Native American tribes may have historically used garden phlox, the Cherokee tribe in particular used it to treat boils and sores. Its pretty flowers and long blooming time make it a must for many gardeners.
