Lanceleaf Tickseed (Coreopsis lanceolata)Lanceleaf tickseed is found in small clumps. It reaches 1-2 feet tall. Its leaves 3-4 inches long, opposite, and sometimes alternate near the top where the leaves are fewer. Some of the leaves are deeply cut, almost forming three leaflets. Flower heads are yellow, and 1 to1 1/2 inches across.
Historic medicinal uses by Native American groups is limited, but lanceleaf tickseed was used to create yellow to reddish dyes.
