Swamp Rose Mallow (Hibiscus moscheutos)

Swamp rose mallow is a striking native wildflower with large, showy blooms in shades of white, pink, or rose, often with a deep red center. Its broad, hibiscus-like flowers can reach up to six inches across and bloom from midsummer into early fall. Found in wetlands and along streams, this plant thrives in moist soils and full sun. The flowers attract a variety of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, while its seeds provide food for birds. Swamp Rose Mallow is relatively deer resistant.

Native Americans groups historically used parts of the plant for medicinal purposes, including treating inflammation and gastrointestinal issues.
