Virginia Rose (Rosa virginiana)

Virginia rose (Rosa virginiana) is a hardy native shrub that produces fragrant, five-petaled pink flowers from early to mid-summer. Its blooms are followed by bright red rose hips, which persist into winter and provide food for birds and other wildlife. This plant is generally deer resistant and attracts pollinators, such as bees and butterflies.

Native American groups historically used Virginia rose for treating colds, fevers, and inflammation.
