Are you up to the Challenge?

September 22, 2021| Events, Fundraising, Recreation

By: Kyle Richter

As I’m sure you know by now, the LHF Virtual Lake Loop Challenge takes place any way, anywhere, and anytime you want from October 8-15th, and I’m feeling up to the challenge! I’m hoping you will meet me on the field of friendly competition - as we come together as a community to get active for a combined 2,201 hours/miles and raise $50,000 to support Lake Hopatcong!

The Lake Loop is a great opportunity to get active and moving, all while helping raise money to support the Lake Hopatcong Foundation’s mission of protecting the environment and enhancing the experience on New Jersey’s largest lake - through programs in the areas of environment, education, recreation, safety, community, and arts and culture!

Personally, I can’t wait to participate in my first Lake Loop challenge, doubly so because it’s virtual and allows for greater participation, plus the added excitement of a little healthy competition! My Lake Loop Team, #OFFTHERICHTER, has a goal of raising $1,000 to support a vibrant and healthy Lake Hopatcong and its surrounding community.  For every $50 that team #OFFTHERICHTER raises, I pledge to run 1 mile. Check out my team’s page for more information, and if you would like to see me run a bunch of miles, please consider donating to my team. I’ll be posting updates of my running journey on my team’s page. Fine print: while I wish I were a marathon runner, I reserve the right to spread these miles over the course of several days!

Up for some competition and think you can beat me? Consider creating your own team to compete in the fundraising challenge! LHF will be offering cool prizes to individuals and teams who complete the most miles, move the most hours, and raise the most amount of money. There’s even a prize for best team name!

After the Virtual Lake Loop challenge has ended, we plan to come together and celebrate all that we have accomplished! Join us on October 17th from 12:30 to 3:30 pm at Hopatcong State Park as we hand out awards and swap stories of our Lake Loop adventures. Bring a chair and come prepared to enjoy a few hours of music, food, a beer tent, and fun! All registered participants will receive a voucher for a free food item, and the first beer from the beer tent is FREE. For all others, food and drink will be available for purchase. We hope you'll join us!

I hope you will consider registering, creating a team to rival mine, or supporting team #OFFTHERICHTER. How many miles can you make me run?
