Community Program: Hooked on Fishing - Learn the Basics From a Local Expert

Curious about fishing but not sure where to start? Join local expert John Moran, President of the Knee Deep Club, for an engaging evening all about fishing on Lake Hopatcong! This program will cover essential fishing gear, from rods and reels to artificial and live bait setups. You’ll also learn about the fish species that call Lake Hopatcong home, along with their seasonal movements and the most effective techniques to catch them throughout the year. Whether you're a beginner or just looking to sharpen your skills, this is a great opportunity to dive into the world of fishing with guidance from a lifelong local angler.

Program Presenter

John Moran is the President of the Knee Deep Club, a 79-year-old multi-species fishing club exclusive to Lake Hopatcong. A lifelong resident and angler, John brings decades of hands-on experience and local knowledge, sharing insights that help newcomers and seasoned fishers alike connect with the lake in a deeper way.
