Give your old clothes a second life! Join us for an eye-opening evening as we explore the growing problem of textile waste and discover simple ways to keep clothing, shoes, and household textiles out of our landfills. Learn how clothing recycling works, what happens to your unwanted items after you donate them, and why keeping textiles out of the trash is one of the easiest ways to make a positive impact on the environment.
Presented by Alex Husted of Helpsy, this program will take a behind-the-scenes look at one of the nation's leading textile collection and recycling organizations. From extending the life of wearable clothing to transforming worn-out fabrics into new materials, you'll gain practical tips for reducing waste and embracing a more sustainable approach to fashion and consumption.
As part of this program, we will also be hosting a community clothing drive from August 3–31. Community members are encouraged to drop off clean, dry clothing, shoes, and other accepted textiles at our office between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. throughout the month, giving unwanted items a chance to be reused or recycled instead of ending up in a landfill.
