Come out and learn about road salt usage and monitoring with Watershed Ambassador Matt Trochim. We will be discussing the benefits and drawbacks of road salt, the impact excessive use has on our ecosystem and health, alternatives to road salt on the municipal and individual level, and what individuals can do to reduce their impact.
About the presenter: Matt Trochim is the Watershed Ambassador for 2025-2026 with the New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors Program (NJWAP) for Watershed Management Area 1, which includes Lake Hopatcong and the Musconetcong, Pequest, and Paulins Kill Rivers. NJWAP is dedicated to promoting good stewardship of our water resources through education and community involvement such as litter cleanups, invasive species removals, and educational presentations.
