Free Hike, Big Impact: Support Hopatcong Charities

March 31, 2025| Community, Events, Fundraising, People, Recreation

By: Andrew Dollberg

Hike the beautiful Hudson Farm property and support local Hopatcong charities on Saturday, May 10, at the 2025 Hudson Farm Club Spring Charity Hike for Hopatcong!

This local event, sponsored by the Hudson Farm Club, is free and open to everyone and will be held rain or shine. Registration begins at 7 am, and participants can start their hike anytime between 7:30 and 11 am. All are welcome!

For senior citizens and those unable to hike, a tour of the beautifully renovated and restored clubhouse of Hudson Farm will be available. Originally the McRoy mansion, built in 1904, it served as the main lodge of Hudson Guild Farm (a New York City settlement house) from 1917 to 1997. It is recognized as the locale where the concept of the Appalachian Trail was conceived.

Every step you take makes a difference!

Upon completing the hike (or tour), participants have the opportunity to donate $1 per year of age to a selection of Hopatcong organizations, including The Lake Hopatcong Foundation – The Hopatcong Ambulance Squad – The Hopatcong Fire Department – Hopatcong C.E.R.T. – Hopatcong PBA Local 149 and Police Explorer – Hopatcong’s PTO – Scouts of Hopatcong – Friends of the E. Louise Childs Library, Hopatcong Community Garden, Project Graduation and several Hopatcong youth sports organizations.

Supporting Local Food Pantries

If you are able, please bring non-perishable food items to help stuff the trunk of the new Hopatcong electric police vehicle with non-perishable food items. Donations collected by the Hopatcong PBA will be delivered to local food pantries.
