Each spring, the Musconetcong Watershed Association (MWA) coordinates a river cleanup across multiple locations stretching from Lake Hopatcong to the Delaware River confluence. This year’s cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 4, from 9:00 to 11:00 am, offering a morning of hands-on service along the Musconetcong River.
After being cooped up all winter, this is the perfect opportunity to get outside, enjoy some fresh air, and welcome the spring season in a meaningful way.
We are pleased to assist the with this effort each year by leading the Hopatcong State Park portion of the cleanup. Hopatcong State Park is Location #1 of 22 on the river cleanup map, and volunteers can join us by registering HERE!
To sign up, please visit musconetcong.org/river-cleanups. Signing up ahead of time helps ensure there are enough supplies for all participants.
Volunteers will meet at the park at 9:00 am, where gloves and trash bags will be provided before heading out to assigned areas. Participants are welcome to stay for as little or as long as they like, with the cleanup running through 11:00 am. Terrain varies from easy walking trails to moderate hillsides and more challenging riverbank sections, allowing volunteers to pick the area that feels most comfortable. Please bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.
After the cleanup, all volunteers are invited to enjoy a free cookout at the River Resource Center in Asbury, NJ as a thank-you for their time and dedication.
This event is a great opportunity for individuals, families, scout troops, and community groups to give back together. We hope you will join us for this important community effort.
