A peek behind the Block Party curtain

April 18, 2024| Community, Events, People

By: Caitlin Doran

The Lake Hopatcong Block Party is our largest lakeside community event – with hundreds of vendors, thousands of guests, a bevy of food trucks, and a full schedule of free family activities, like boat rides, interactive games, a scavenger hunt, Passport Adventure program, and more!

For guests and vendors alike, it’s a day that’s all about community, fun, and bringing people together in celebration of Lake Hopatcong. And because of the efforts of some very special behind-the-scenes folks working hard to make it all run like clockwork – in addition to the big-hearted, tie-dye clad volunteers you’ll see throughout the day – participants need only to explore and enjoy!

We’d like to take this opportunity to peel back the curtain and thank the dedicated people working behind the scenes making it all run so smoothly. Thank you to our:

Shuttle Bus Coordinators

Complimentary shuttle bus service from six off-site parking areas will be provided by Hopatcong Borough, Hopatcong Schools, Mount Arlington Borough, Roxbury Township, Roxbury Township Schools, and Jefferson Township. Thank you to the municipalities, school leadership, and each bus driver for helping us bring the Block Party to so many people!

Off-site Parking Partners

Free parking areas are located at Roxbury’s Landing Park Recreation Complex; Landing shopping center (courtesy of FORSONS Partners); Full Life Christian Fellowship Church lot (a.k.a. the Barking Lot, which is reserved for guests with dogs); Hopatcong Senior Center; the Wayne L. Threlkeld Hilltop Sports Complex; 12 Orben Way, Landing (compliments of Tri-State Industrial); and the Lake Hopatcong Foundation. These lots are essential to accommodating as many people as possible! Thank you!

Traffic Management and Safety Coordinators

We’d like to thank the Roxbury Police Department, New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau, New Jersey State Park Police, Mount Arlington C.E.R.T. and Pack 188, who are helping to keep us safe and monitor traffic in and around the Block Party.

Camp Six Property Management

Camp Six Property Management is the hard-working team helping us on behalf of the Live the Lake NJ family of businesses, our longtime 5-Star Sponsor.  Going above and beyond their financial sponsorship, the Camp Six team has been hands-on in planning and executing the event, helping with everything from setup to trash removal. We can’t thank them enough!

And there are others who quietly go above and beyond to lend a hand with the Block Party, like Blue Diamond Disposal, who provides trash carting services, Missile Silos Studios who pre-records many of our announcements, and the sound mixing magic of Sergio and Leon Moreau, who staff the public service announcement system. Hopatcong State Park gets a shout out, too, for accommodating our many big ideas to make the Block Party better and better every year!

We are truly grateful for all the behind-the-scenes folks and the more than 100 volunteers helping us before, during, and after our 2024 Lake Hopatcong Block Party. We encourage everyone to join us on May 18 and see all these efforts come together!
