Be Part of the Ripple Effect

April 30, 2026|

By: Caitlin Doran

“Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects." - Dalai Lama

Because Lake Hopatcong Foundation members consistently show up for our lake and community, real, lasting change is in motion.

When you become a Lake Hopatcong Foundation member, volunteer an hour of your time, stay informed on Lake Hopatcong issues, and help share our clean-water message, each small action is part of a larger, positive chain reaction. We call this the ripple effect.

Here’s what members are making possible:

A healthier lake, now and for generations to come

Your support is helping us plan dredging and habitat restoration projects in Landing Channel, complete a bioretention basin at Lakeside Field, and power our Lake-Friendly Living program. Together, these efforts safeguard water quality and reduce the risk of harmful algal blooms.

Reaching 3,000 young minds and counting

You are opening the door for young people to connect with the lake in meaningful ways. Since 2015, participation in environmental education programs has grown by 725%. Today, over 3,000 students each year are learning—both in the classroom and on the water—because of you.

A united lake community

From the Lake Hopatcong Block Party and Lake Loop to guided hikes, paddles, and programs at the historic Lake Hopatcong Station, your support brings people together to celebrate Lake Hopatcong as one community.

A strong voice for Lake Hopatcong

With your support, decision makers from Trenton to Washington D.C. clearly understand the needs and challenges faced by Lake Hopatcong and all New Jersey public lakes. You give our lake a voice and you help secure funding, resources, and the momentum needed to move critical projects forward, including Jefferson sewers.

Membership support matters! Please consider becoming a Lake Hopatcong Foundation member or renewing your membership today, so we can keep this positive momentum going. As a valued member, you’ll enjoy advanced notice of popular events, exclusive member experiences, and special admission to programs, including our upcoming rain barrel workshop! You can also amplify your impact by sharing this blog post with a friend or neighbor, so “the ripple effect” can reach every cove of our lake and corner of our community.

Thank you for considering a Lake Hopatcong Foundation membership and lending your support behind efforts to keep our lake and community healthy and vibrant. The ripple effect starts with you!
