Calling all train enthusiasts and Lake Hopatcong supporters! We have an exciting pop-up opportunity for you.
Thanks to the generosity of one of our dedicated board members, Leon Moreau, we are excited to offer a special 90-minute train ride on Saturday, September 13, 2025, departing from the Whippany Railway Museum (1 Railroad Plaza, Whippany, NJ 07981) at 12 pm.
Leon has arranged several special rides on September 13 to benefit local charities, and the Lake Hopatcong Foundation is one of the lucky groups selected as a beneficiary of all proceeds from the noon train ride.
Passengers can expect comfy accommodations in a smart-looking train car that seats up to 40 passengers. Refreshments - beverages, mini-sandwiches, and dessert pastries - will be served onboard.
Trip Info: This excursion is operated by the Morristown & Erie Railway. The train will travel west along the Morristown & Erie mainline to Morristown, then it will reverse direction and venture east to the Passaic River Bridge in Roseland before returning to Whippany.
Lake Hopatcong Foundation Development Director Caitlin Doran and Lake Hopatcong Foundation Trustee Leon Moreau will be on board to chat about the Foundation – and our love of trains!
The donation per person is $25 for Lake Hopatcong Foundation members and $50 for non-members.
If you have questions about the excursion, your membership status, or how this trip benefits efforts to protect and improve Lake Hopatcong, please email caitlin@lakehopatcongfoundation.org or call 973-663-2500.
