Join us for a National Trails Day hike

May 09, 2024| Community, Recreation

By: Donna Macalle-Holly

Celebrate National Trails Day with us as we host a two-hour hike on the Lake Hopatcong Trail, starting from Roland May Eves Sanctuary. Rob Bond, a dedicated trail maintainer for the Lake Hopatcong Foundation and the NY-NJ Trail Conference will lead the hike.

Rob spent the first year of his retirement, in 2020, re-connecting with local treasures by hiking every section of the Lake Hopatcong Trail and the Highlands Trail around Lake Hopatcong.  He's passionate about sharing these trails with others and is committed to expanding and improving trail systems in the area, including creating marked trail loops.

Rob has also added the Lake Hopatcong Trail to the Outer Spacial app to raise awareness and encourage more people to explore it. We recommend all hikers download the OuterSpatial app before the hike, as it will help you navigate the trail and share your adventures with fellow outdoor enthusiasts. You can also access exciting challenges tailored to our area on the app. We currently have a fun challenge running on Liffy Island!
