Keep Shelves Stocked: Support Local Food Pantries

October 28, 2025| Community

By: Holly Odgers

As the holidays approach, food pantries throughout the Lake Hopatcong area are providing services and accepting donations and volunteer assistance, to make sure every family has food on the table.

Before making a donation, please double-check that items are unopened and still within their expiration dates. Most pantries can only accept unexpired, sealed goods, so a quick look at the labels helps ensure your contributions can be put to good use. In addition to non-perishable foods, many local pantries appreciate items like paper goods, toiletries, and household cleaning supplies.

If you’d like to give in another way, consider making a monetary donation or volunteering your time. Financial gifts allow pantries to purchase exactly what’s needed, including fresh foods and other perishable items, while volunteers help keep things running smoothly, during the busy holiday season and throughout the year.
