Now, and for Future Generations

December 07, 2025| Fundraising

By: Kyle Richter, Executive Director

I’m excited to share some personal news. This summer, I became a parent! In addition to giving me a new purpose, it’s given even greater meaning to the work we are undertaking, together, to protect New Jersey’s largest lake.

When my daughter, Skyler, was born, my focus shifted to the future: both her future and the future of the natural resources upon which we depend, especially Lake Hopatcong. More than ever, I want our lake to remain healthy and vibrant, so that all families can enjoy and rely on Lake Hopatcong now, and for generations to come.

While many of the Foundation’s initiatives bring immediate benefits, so much of what we do is driven by our commitment to the future. Through environmental projects, educational programs, community events, and consistent advocacy, we’re ensuring that our lake and our community continue to thrive – and you play a critical role!

Securing the future of Lake Hopatcong takes all of us. We need your support to:

  • Protect water quality. Through vital water quality improvement projects like sewering, dredging, and oxygenation, as well as the removal of invasive species, we are mitigating harmful algal blooms and protecting our lake’s environment.
  • Inspire the next generation of lake stewards. From environmental field trips aboard our Floating Classroom to new in-classroom lessons for every grade level, we’re planting a seed of knowledge and inspired 3,150 students this year and counting.
  • Strengthen the community that surrounds the lake. Whether it’s through hiking, paddling, or gathering at annual events like the Lake Hopatcong Block Party or programs at our historic building, we’re providing opportunities to connect around our shared cause and to learn about our lake.
  • Advocate for our lake at every level of government. We’re advocating on behalf of our lake at the municipal, county, state and federal level. We will be meeting with Governor-Elect Sherrill to reemphasize challenges facing Lake Hopatcong, with the goal of having public lakes included in our state’s annual budget.

Your year-end donation to the Lake Hopatcong Foundation is critical to continuing another year of environmental, educational, community, and advocacy programs that have a measurable impact on and around Lake Hopatcong. When you give, you’ll also have an opportunity to tell us what protecting Lake Hopatcong now and for future generations means to you!

Give a Gift

Thank you for considering a gift at this important time, on behalf of myself, my team, and the next generation of Lake Hopatcong advocates, like Skyler!
