Only two more weeks to “dive in!”

April 14, 2023| Arts & Culture, Community

By: Caitlin Doran

Student artists, it’s time to “put the pencil to the metal!” Only two more weeks to draw, paint, or create your way into potentially winning a $100 CASH prize or a $25 Michaels gift card! All submissions must be postmarked no later than May 1, and we await your mailed artwork at 125 Landing Rd. in Landing, NJ.

We launched our “DIVE IN and get creative!” student art contest back in February, hoping to showcase the beauty and importance of New Jersey’s largest lake and the talent of our community. Grades 1-12 are invited to submit artwork under the theme of “all things Lake Hopatcong.” Interpretations of this theme include favorite lake experiences and activities, wildlife, natural beauty, historic and culturally significant places, and ways to keep Lake Hopatcong clean. As a reminder, you do not need to be a local student to participate! Lake Hopatcong is a resource enjoyed by visitors from all over the state, and we invite any and all artists from New Jersey and beyond to submit to this contest.

Winners will be notified via email after May 1 and publicly announced at our annual meeting, which takes place at 6:30 pm on June 8 at the Lake Hopatcong Foundation Environmental and Cultural Center in Landing. An exhibit of all entries will be on display that night and will remain on display through the end of June.

For a complete list of contest rules and details, please download the entry form.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the following businesses and individuals for supporting this contest: Art Contest Committee Members Linda Karpiak and Sheri Salamanca, Station Hardware, Ice Factory, and Novartis.
