This program is part two of a two-part series exploring the lives and legacies of the notable figures who passed through the Lake Hopatcong Station. This presentation highlights the women, building on its companion program celebrating the men, which took place this past October. All are welcome to attend, regardless of whether they attended the first program or not.
Step back in time and uncover the stories of the remarkable women who once passed through the Lake Hopatcong Station, the very building that now serves as the Lake Hopatcong Foundation’s home! Historian Marty Kane, President of the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum and Board Chair of the Lake Hopatcong Foundation, will share fascinating tales of the famous figures who passed through Lake Hopatcong Station and the importance of the building in shaping Lake Hopatcong's rise as a major northeast resort.
Marty Kane has long been a dedicated steward of Lake Hopatcong’s history and preservation. A longtime summer resident of the lake, he has served as President of the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum since 1990, bringing the area’s resort-era past to life through books, programs, and exhibits. Marty is the author of several books on local history and co-author, with his wife Laurie, of the award-winning documentary Greetings from Bertrand Island. As Chair of the Lake Hopatcong Foundation Board, he has led restoration projects centered on the historic Lake Hopatcong Station and other regional preservation efforts.
