Get out on the lake this summer for a hands-on experience that’s equal parts fun and fascinating. Tickets are now available for the Lake Hopatcong Foundation’s 2026 public eco cruises aboard the Floating Classroom!
These interactive learning cruises offer a unique opportunity to explore the ecology of New Jersey’s largest lake while enjoying a memorable morning on the water. Designed for curious minds of all ages, the cruises combine science, discovery, and scenic views into one engaging experience.
During each 90-minute cruise, guests take part in hands-on activities that bring lake science to life. Participants will test water clarity using Secchi disks, examine plankton collected directly from the lake, and learn about the plants, animals, and environmental factors that shape Lake Hopatcong’s ecosystem. Along the way, guests gain a deeper understanding of the lake and simple ways everyone can help protect it for future generations.
Activities are geared toward guests ages 10 and up, but younger children are welcome to join the cruise with an accompanying adult. Whether you’re a family looking for a fun summer outing, a lifelong learner, or someone who simply enjoys being on the water, the Floating Classroom offers a one-of-a-kind experience that blends education with adventure.
Public eco-cruises will run every Monday from July 6 through August 31, departing from Hopatcong State Park at 11:00 am.
