There’s still time to become a member of the Lake Hopatcong Foundation!

June 18, 2021| Community, Fundraising, People

By: Caitlin Doran

Our members are a passionate group of people invested in protecting the environment and enhancing the experience on Lake Hopatcong, now and for future generations. Members, like Barb Kraus, pictured here, are often also some of the Foundation’s most active volunteers, without whom we could not organize the many events, programs, and initiatives we offer to the public each year.

Barb is part of the hard-working team behind the Block Party, an annual community day that brings together thousands of people and hundreds of vendors at Hopatcong State Park, backdropped by our beautiful lake. You can also catch Barb organizing our annual native plant sale and helping us with the native gardens at the historic Lake Hopatcong Train Station.

Initiatives like the Block Party, the plant sale, and beautification of the Train Station, are just some of the ways we realize our vision of a vibrant and healthy Lake Hopatcong and community. Others include our B-SAFE dock numbering program, educational cruises aboard our Floating Classroom, hikes along the Lake Hopatcong Trail, and our constant advocacy for stronger protections and more permanent resources for New Jersey’s largest lake.

When you become a member of the Foundation, you support all these efforts and more. Our membership drive kicks off our program season and runs springtime to springtime. And it’s still not too late to join us and make a positive impact on our lake and community! Just ask super member and volunteer Barb Kraus.
