Welcome, Mia!

We are excited to welcome Mia Shaw to the Lake Hopatcong Foundation team as our newest intern!

Mia earned her bachelor’s degree in social science from Ramapo College in 2023 and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in social work, also at Ramapo. Her interest in the environment began during walks with her childhood dog, Charlie, where she developed an appreciation for the surrounding plant life and the beauty in the rhythm of the natural world. She expanded this interest by taking environmental courses in high school and college, exploring how communities interact with nature.

Mia is excited to enter the nonprofit world, believing her background in social work has prepared her well for this field.  She has already hit the ground running, contributing to our new high school field trip program, and actively engaging in several upcoming projects. Her proactive attitude and dedication have truly impressed us. We hope you will have the chance to meet her and say hello.
