In June of each year, in conjunction with National Trails Day, the Lake Hopatcong Foundation hosts a guided hike at a trail in the Lake Hopatcong area. This year, our guided hike will be on June 8, at 12:00 at the Compton-Goble Trail in Jefferson. The hike will be led by Russ Felter, Chair of the Jefferson Township Trails Committee and former Mayor of Jefferson Township. Held annually, National Trails Day is a nationwide call to get outside, enjoy nature, and appreciate the value of trails.
This year’s hike will cover approximately 3 miles, including a scenic overlook just off the main trail. On the return trip, we’ll follow a different route that climbs to the top of Mitchko Mountain, where you’ll be treated to panoramic views.
The entrance to the trail is on Route 15 North, next to the Dunkin' Donuts at the Mobil gas station.
