Touch a What? (at the Lake Hopatcong Block Party)

May 07, 2026| Community, Events

By: Kari Constantine

Get ready for one of the area's most exciting spring celebrations, the Lake Hopatcong Block Party is taking over Hopatcong State Park on May 16, and this year’s lineup of performances, live demonstrations, and hands-on experiences is bigger and more interactive than ever!

From the moment the festivities begin, the energy will be nonstop. At 11:15 am, the incredible Hudson Farm Gun Dogs kick things off with a captivating demonstration that showcases the precision, training, and partnership between handler and dog, an absolute must-see for animal lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

Tech meets creativity at 11:45 am and again at 1:45 pm when Roxbury High School Robotix takes center stage. Watch innovation in action as students demonstrate cutting-edge robotics, proving that the future is already here and it’s impressive.

At noon, the Knee Deep Club invites you to dive into the art of casting with a live demonstration that will hook both seasoned anglers and curious beginners. Simultaneously, An Clar School of Irish Dance brings vibrant movement and cultural flair to the stage with performances at 12 pm and 1:15 pm.

Animal lovers won’t want to miss Eyes of the Wild at 12:30 pm and 2:15 pm. These engaging educational presentations offer an up-close look at incredible animal ambassadors while inspiring compassion, conservation, and a deeper connection to the natural world for visitors of all ages.

Then, at 1:00 pm, all eyes turn to the water for the Jefferson Fire Boat, Defender, with an on-water demonstration of public safety in action.

Our new touch-a-truck area is sure to be one of the day’s biggest crowd-pleasers, transforming the park into an interactive playground. Explore and experience the vehicles that keep our communities running. Step inside the Mobile Command Unit, learn about life-saving programs from HOPE One, check out the intricate gauges and compartments of the fire engine and ladder truck, and get up close with construction equipment, tow trucks, and more. It’s hands-on, immersive, and unforgettable for kids (and kids at heart!).

This incredible experience wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated agencies, organizations, and businesses bringing it all to life, including Morris County Sheriff, Sussex County Sheriff, Roxbury Township DPW, Jefferson Recycling, Saint Clare’s Health, Roxbury Fire Department Co. 2, Hopatcong Fire Department Co. 3, Ron & Sons Towing, JC & Daughter’s 24 Hour Towing, BRT Towing & Recovery, and Aaron Excavating.

Mark your calendar, gather your friends and family, and come be part of a day filled with discovery, excitement, and community spirit. See you there!
