CDRW Membership Meeting Recap

February 14, 2020| Environment

Representatives from the Lake Hopatcong Foundation attended the annual membership meeting of the Coalition of the Delaware River Watershed in January, which was located at the lovely Adventure Aquarium in Camden (and our meeting room had a full shark and fish tank along an entire wall, which proved to be both soothing and distracting!).

Working with this group, which shares a vision of healthy waters within the Delaware River Watershed (of which Lake Hopatcong is a part), is always an encouraging experience. This membership meeting was no different. We learned about what impressive successes were made in 2019 and the group’s priorities for 2020, which include the following goal areas:

  • Federal Policy and Funding (including full funding for the Delaware River Basin Commission)
  • State Policy and Funding
  • Advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice
  • Watershed-Wide Planning

Within the State Policy and Funding priority, we have pushed the group to advocate for state funding to support New Jersey’s lakes. We are hoping with the support of this Coalition, we can make that a reality, for Lake Hopatcong and all of the state’s beautiful lakes.
