Citizen science - an introduction to HAB monitoring

March 29, 2021| Environment

By: Donna Macalle-Holly

Volunteers needed for ongoing HAB monitoring

Join us for a training session on identifying and reporting possible Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) on Lake Hopatcong and throughout the Musconetcong River Watershed. Participants will learn how to identify HABs with the use of handheld meters and report them to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).

This training includes a presentation lead by Musconetcong Water Association Water Quality Program Coordinator Christa Reeves followed by hands-on training. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, capacity is limited. Since the training will be being held outside, restrooms will not be available.  Masks will be required when in groups.

Harmful Algal Bloom Identification and Reporting Training

Saturday, May 1, from 10 am-12:30 pm

Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club (outside porch)
75 N Bertrand Rd, Mount Arlington

This Training is full. Registration is closed.
