Every Drop Counts: how it started, how it’s going

December 02, 2022| Environment, Fundraising

By: Caitlin Doran

In November, we launched our Every Drop Counts campaign, seeking help to raise funds through the end of the year that support our efforts to protect and improve water quality on Lake Hopatcong. Every time we receive a gift in support of clean water, we add a water drop to our map of the lake. The results have been nothing short of inspiring! To date, we’ve received just under 100 gifts to help fund clean-water initiatives, like:

  • Educating thousands of students and adults about water ecology and stewardship aboard our Floating Classroom – over 1,800 in 2022 alone!
  • Partnering with the Lake Hopatcong Commission on projects that improve water quality, like the installation of nine floating wetland islands in Landing Channel and Ashley Cove
  • Organizing programs that monitor, mitigate, and prevent the spread of highly invasive water chestnut, like our Water Scouts and Lake Stewards programs
  • Advocating for Lake Hopatcong at every level of government to secure more funding and resources for our lake

We saw a stream of generous gifts come through this past Giving Tuesday to support these efforts, and with each drop, our lake map turns bluer every day. We are beyond grateful!

If you support our clean-water mission and our ability to, together, keep Lake Hopatcong fishable and swimmable now and for future generations, we invite you to make a gift today.

Every Drop Counts!
