Did you know?
  • Each year, marine plants produce more than half of our atmosphere's oxygen.
  • In the last 150 years, the live coral reef cover has been reduced by half.
  • A mature tree cleans our air, absorbing 22 kilos of carbon dioxide, and releasing oxygen in exchange.
  • Biodiversity involves 8 million plant and animal species, the ecosystems that house them, and the genetic diversity among them.
  • Within the next 10 years, one out of every four known species may have been wiped off the planet.

World Environment Day

World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5 every year, was established by the United Nations to encourage awareness and action for the protection of our environment.  Find out more about World Environment Day HERE.

First held in 1974, World Environment Day has been a flagship campaign for raising awareness on environmental issues. The theme for World Environment Day 2020 is "Celebrate Biodiversity."
