Native plant sale now open!

May 14, 2021| Community, Education, Environment, Events

By: Holly Odgers

WE ARE SOLD OUT! Thank you! See you next year!

We are excited to present our 5th annual native plant sale!

We hope you enjoy browsing the 45 varieties of native plants available at lhfplantsale.givesmart.com. The deadline for online orders is Thursday, May 20, at 6 pm. Pickup for online purchases, as well as an in-person sale for remaining plants, will take place on Saturday, May 22, from 9 am - 1 pm, at the Lake Hopatcong Foundation Environmental & Cultural Center, 125 Landing Road, Landing. Masks and social distancing will be required.

Please note, the photos supplied on the online order page are generally of mature and blooming plants, the plants provided will be well-rooted, new plantings in quart containers unless otherwise noted (see picture for example). Our native plants are supplied by Well-Sweep Herb Farm and are grown organically - without chemical pesticides or fungicides.

Native plants occur naturally in a region in which they evolved and are easier on the environment because they are adapted to the local landscape and generally require less water, less fertilizer, and little maintenance after they are established. They play a crucial part in the world's ecosystem and are important for the healthy populations of birds, native bees, butterflies, bats, and many mammals.

By choosing native plants in your yard, you are not only helping wildlife, you are creating a healthier place for yourself, your family, and your community. You are also making choices that are beneficial to the health of Lake Hopatcong, its watershed, and even the planet!

We hope you will choose to add some native plants to your yard or garden this spring.

Online ordering is now closed for this sale
