‘Thirst for Knowledge’ - The Eagles of Lake Hopatcong

July 01, 2020| Education, Environment

By: Lake Hopatcong Foundation

Please join us on July 16, at 12:30 pm for the third webinar in our “Thirst for Knowledge” lunch-and-learn webinar series, "The Eagles of Lake Hopatcong." Get a close-up look at Lake Hopatcong's resident bald eagles with the "eagle guy," Bob Behrent.

The bald eagle, with its snowy-feathered, brown body, and hooked yellow beak, has been the proud national emblem of the United States since 1782. Once endangered, the bald eagle has become a wildlife success story with rigorous conservation efforts including the restriction of the use of DDT and reintroduction programs. In 2007, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service removed the bald eagle from the endangered list. There have been several nesting bald eagles on Lake Hopatcong over the past few years.

Bob has been photographing the eagles on Lake Hopatcong for many years and will share his photographs along with details about these birds of prey including some of their interesting quirks and how an eagle’s nest changes over the years.

Our "Thirst for Knowledge” lunch-and-learn webinar series was created to share information and discuss topics of interest to our lake community. There is no cost to attend, however, registration is required. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Don't forget your lunch!

Registration for this webinar is now closed.
